Greens not hygenic

Dogs are not banned at the Freedom Party headquarters in St Pölten in Lower-Austria – but members of the green party are according to a sign on the front door of their office.

But the move intended as a joke has not been welcomed by the Green party members who accused the FPÖ of sinking to a new low.

The sign said dogs and cats were welcome, but as the Greens were not “politically house-trained” they were not welcome.

On the front door to the FPÖ-club, the sign says that cats and dogs are welcome – but not the greens – and a snap of Lower-Austria green leader Madeleine Petrovic is included to slam home the point.

According to the general-secretary in Lower-Austria Thomas Huber, this is a new low in political culture – even for the FPÖ. The FPÖ doesn’t want to make its point with content and ideas but rather with tastelessness. Huber has now asked FPÖ Lower-Austrian leader Gottfried Waldhäusl to distance himself from the sign.

That hasn’t happened – on the contrary. Waldhäusl said he had wanted to make a point because the Green party could not be outperformed when it came to lies. He said the party has always broken its promises.

Political campaigns, after billboards, now seem to stretch as far as front doors – somewhat unconventionally.
