Upper Austrian critical after being gunned down by girlfriend

An Upper Austrian is fighting for his life after being shot by his girlfriend with a hunting rifle.Gerold A., 27, was shot in the face by Susanne-Marina B. during an argument at the family home in Kirchschlag in Upper Austria’s Urfahr-Umgebung district last night (Weds).Paramedics arrived at the house within minutes despite a snowstorm raging in the area. They had been called by the 22-year-old woman who turned herself in at a police station in Linz a short while later.Her partner is in a critical condition after undergoing emergency surgery at the AKH hospital in Linz.Meanwhile, a 21-year-old man from Vienna was sentenced to 12 years in prison for killing the 34-year-old boyfriend of his mother, 54, with a pickaxe.
