Politician ‘threatened son with rifle’

A Freedom Party (FPÖ) official has been arrested for threatening his son with a rifle, according to reports.Viennese newspaper Heute reports today (Tues) that Valentin Silberstein, head of the rightist party’s branch in Traismauer, Lower Austria, was put in custody for firing shots with his Winchester rifle at a company estate in Grafenwörth in the presence of his 19-year-old son.The teenager, who was saved by courageous workers who overpowered the politician, reportedly agreed to meet his father to sort things out.Silberstein is allegedly entangled in a bitter feud with his former wife and their children.FPÖ district department chief Erich Königsberger is quoted as saying: “The accused was removed from all his functions in the party immediately.”The FPÖ is considering expelling the suspect, according to Königsberger.
