Austria beat Turkey 2-0
The Austrian National Football team won their friendly against Turkey 2-0 last night (Weds).
This victory puts the team off to a confident start for the World Cup qualifiers which begin on September 11th with a game against Germany.
Veli Kavlak scored the opener after just 51 seconds and the second goal came just minutes later when Andreas Ivanschitz converted a penalty in the sixth minute.
Austria convincingly beat Turkey who are ranked the 30th best team in the world with two early goals.
Austria team boss Marcel Koller said: “The euphoria is of course good, but we haven’t achieved anything yet, we don’t have any points yet.
“We now have a bit of continuity in the team, but Germany are of course the big favourite.
Goal scorer Andreas Ivanschitz said: “I think we are on the right track. Koller is having a big influence on our team. We played very well in phases. We started aggressive and defended well. I am happy with the result.
