Football figurehead found dead

Football fans are bemoaning the death of a legendary coach.Ernst Weber passed away after he was hit by a train near Wiener Neustadt, Lower Austria in unclear circumstances yesterday (Weds). Officials have not revealed any details regarding the fatal incident. It has been speculated that Weber committed suicide – a claim police and the Austrian Football Federation (ÖFB) refused to comment on.The father-of-one managed several youth national teams and the Austrian women’s national squad. Weber, 62, underwent 46 chemotherapies to beat lymph gland cancer which he was attested with in 2002.ÖFB bosses said today a minute of silence will be held to commemorate Weber ahead of the national team’s encounter with Germany at the Ernst Happel Stadium in Vienna on 3 June.Weber’s decease comes weeks after former FC Gratkorn coach Michael Fuchs perished at the age of 38 after experiencing cardiac arrhythmias.Only last week, retired judoka Claudia Heill was found dead in the courtyard of the housing estate where she lived. Investigators believe that the Olympic Games silver medallist killed herself although no farewell letter has been found.
