Haider-Maurer set for Salzburg

BA Trophy finalist Andreas Haider-Maurer will compete in this year’s ATP Salzburg Indoors, it has emerged.The 23-year-old, who was beaten by fellow Lower Austrian Jürgen Melzer in the Vienna tournament’s final on Sunday, is ready to participate in the tournament which will take place at the Salzburgarena between 13 and 21 November.Organisers of the event also said today (Tues) that veteran tennis star Thomas Muster from Styria, who topped the ATP world ranking for six weeks in 1996, was given a wild card to play in Salzburg.Salzburg Indoors officials announced they were confident Muster’s participation will lead to a significant rise in attendance. Around 10,000 fans attended last year’s edition of the tournament. The 43-year-old sensationally returned to professional tennis a few months ago after a 11-year hiatus.Austrian Davis Cup ace Martin Fischer and Nicolas Reissig, a former training partner of Spanish star Rafael Nadal, are also set to play in Salzburg.
