Vienna derby sold out

The 294th edition of the legendary Viennese derby is sold out six weeks before it is set to get underway.Rapid Vienna officials announced today (Mon) that all tickets for the team’s clash with arch-rivals Austria Vienna on Sunday have sold out.State-owned broadcaster ORF will screen the eagerly awaited match live (kickoff: 4pm).Rapid won the most recent derby 2-0 last March. Captain Steffen Hofmann and Croat national team striker Nikica Jelavic found the net for the Green-Whites.Austria Vienna finished the past season in second behind the star-studded side of Red Bull Salzburg, while 32-time champions Rapid came third.Jelavic left the club to join Glasgow Rangers last month. Dutchman Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink, who formerly played for Celtic Glasgow and Hull City, is tipped to debut for the side of Peter Pacult on Sunday. The 31-year-old was a free transfer after his one-year contract at Hull expired earlier year.Injury-stricken Austria Vienna midfielders Milenko Acimovic and Zlatko Junuzovic are tipped to celebrate their comeback on Sunday after long absences.Austria Vienna bosses would have allowed national team defender Aleksandar Dragovic to join a team abroad, but none of the interested clubs eventually managed to agree over a deal before the transfer window closed on 31 August.All other four matches of the seventh round will be played on Saturday.Newly-promoted Wacker Innsbruck will face leaders SV Ried, while the Bulls clash with LASK Linz.
