Alleged ice lady killer on trial on Monday

A female ice cream parlour owner accused of killing her husband and boyfriend and entombing their bodies in tubs in her shop cellar is to stand trial on Monday (nov 19).

Cold blooded Estíbaliz Carranza, 32 – dubbed the Ice Lady – is said to have hacked her victims’ bodies into pieces and cemented them into the floor of her basement in Vienna, Austria. She then fled 600 miles in a taxi from Austria to Italy.

A 140-page report into her mental state ruled that she is fit to stand trial for the double murder after she admitted to a court psychiatrist: “I could kill again.”

Carranza allegedly shot her former husband Holger H twice in the back of the head in 2008 when he refused to leave her when she revealed she had a lover.

Prosecution papers say she used a chainsaw to cut his body into small pieces, which she then sealed in concrete in the cellar of her ice cream shop.

Two years later Carranza is said to have discovered her boyfriend Manfred H was seeing other women and then took shooting lessons and courses in mixing concrete at a hardware store before buying a new chainsaw.

She is said to have shot him four times in the head as he slept before hacking his body to pieces and concreting them into the basement beside her husband’s remains.

Last year workers installing new pipes made the gruesome discovery of a leg and other body parts and alerted the police.

Pregnant Carranza was arrested after she fled to Italy in a taxi and she was extradited back to Austria.

Court shrink Adelheid Kastner – who judged incest monster Josef Fritzl sane enough to be tried – spent more than 30 hours questioning Carranza, 34, at her prison in Linz.

“She suffers from a personality disorder, she has serious mental and psychological abnormalities. It has to be feared that the woman could commit further acts with serious consequences,” concludes the analysis.

Dr Kastner stated that she believes Carranza has a “one in three” chance of committing another murder.
