Internet user gets €150,000 bill for two days

A Styrian woman had the shock of her life when she was informed by her internet provider that she amassed a 150,000-Euro bill in two days.The 53-year-old from Bad Aussee decided to inform the police who assigned a team of internet fraud experts to examine the issue. An investigator said today (Thurs) that felons based in Africa could have hacked into her system.The woman is confident she will not be asked to foot the invoice.The news comes shortly after Austrian telecommunications regulation authority RTR said it had registered around 1,000 complaints so far this year. The institution said the vast majority of cases considered high bills for mobile data services.A new law enforcing companies to provide more information on data volumes and costs to create more transparency for customers could be implemented later this year.
