U-Bahn service down after woman jumps on rails

A 36-year-old woman had a narrow escape after leaping on U-Bahn tracks in Vienna yesterday afternoon (Thurs).The woman hurled herself onto the tracks at the U1 underground station Praterstern in Leopoldstadt district. She escaped the incident unscathed by cowering in a hollow under the platform when a train entered the station.The woman was hospitalised at a psychiatric clinic. The service between Praterstern and Stephansplatz stations had to be suspended for around half an hour after the incident, public transport provider Wiener Linien said today.Only in March, a 23-year-old man suffered severe injuries when he was hit by a train as he tried to cross the tracks outside the U1 line Kaisermühlen station.
