Russian oligarch’s shooting activities under investigation
A Russian billionaire is facing charges for the illegal killing of protected animals in Austria.Viennese newspaper Kurier reports today (Thurs) that Rashid Sardarov was reported for holding organised hunting trips targeting protected deer and goats in Lower Austria.The industrialist and his family reside at a multi-million Euro estate in the remote town of Rohr im Gebirge. Now the Kurier revealed that local forestry authorities started investigations against the business oligarch over accusations that he offered the shooting of endangered Himalayan ibexes or killed protected animals himself at his property in Lower Austria.Officials said they will check his estate after having received an anonymous tip-off. A spokesman for local wildlife authorities told the Kurier, Sardarov will be asked to provide a list of animals kept and killed at his estate.The daily newspaper also claims, that Sardarov paid around 160,000 Euros to kill a Black Rhinoceros in Namibia.
