Human trafficking suspect nabbed

A France-based Tunisian man has been arrested for allegedly trying to smuggle two fellow countrymen into Austria.The 33-year-old’s car was stopped on a main road near Schönberg in Tyrol yesterday (Tues). He identified himself as a Tunisian citizen living in France, while the car’s passengers – two men aged 21 and 24 – had no IDs with them.The driver was put in custody in Innsbruck over suspicions that he tried to get the other two men into the European Union (EU) illegally. The passengers were deported to Italy.On the same day, a driver discovered 15 people in the refrigerated container of his lorry after hearing knocking sounds when he stopped at a motorway rest stop near Brixlegg. The illegal immigrants from Afghanistan and Pakistan were all suffering from hyperthermia and hospitalised in Kufstein.
