Body of elderly woman found in river

Police are investigating after the corpse of a 79-year-old woman was found in a creek in Salzburg.The pensioner’s body was fished out of a stream in the town of Thalgau around 9am this morning. Local officials said the woman, who was wearing just a nightgown, lived with several relatives nearby. They added it was still completely unclear why she apparently left the house in the middle of the night in her night-time clothes.Meanwhile, police in Fohnsdorf in Styria said a pensioner was discovered frozen to death in a dried out riverbed just 200 metres from his home. The 71-year-old man apparently lost consciousness after falling over on his way home from the pub.
