Cannabis plants found in cellar
A 37-year-old resident of Weidling near Klosterneuburg faces criminal charges after police found dozens of marijuana plants in his cellar today (Fri).The man, who was not put in custody, is suspected of selling the drugs harvested from the 60 stocks. Police said they searched his house after having received an anonymous tip-off.Consuming, growing and selling cannabis is illegal in Austria.The discovery by police in Lower Austrian comes shortly after a cleaner disposed of a sack of cannabis which police officers had put down next to a rubbish bin at a station in Klagenfurt, Carinthia.The overeager woman had not realised that the substance was a vital piece of evidence. Investigations into a major drug cartel continued after the bag was recovered from a rubbish bin outside the station.
