Nazi bomb found

Explosives experts of the interior ministry were summoned to defuse two wartime bombs in Wiener Neustadt, Lower Austria, this morning (Thurs). The bombs – discovered at a property belonging to the Austrian army – were identified as training bombs used by the German Wehrmacht forces in its military drill exercises during World War Two (WWII). No one was injured when the bombs – which could have gone off at anytime – were defused and removed by the group of experts. The discovery comes only two days after an aerial bomb from WWII was found on a building site in Vienna-Favoriten.Some of the district’s busiest roads had to be closed down while experts deactivated the 250-kilo missile found by workers at the construction of Vienna’s new main train station.Around 28 tons of unexploded missiles from both World Wars were found and defused in Austria in 2009, according to the federal interior ministry.
