Cross-country skier hits signpost

A cross-country skier suffered serious injuries in a freak accident yesterday (Sun).The Czech tourist was cross-country skiing towards the valley in Ramsau, Styria, when he crashed against a signpost after being thrown from the marked slope as he got faster and faster.The 45-year-old suffered an open fracture to his lower right leg. He was helicoptered to a clinic in Schladming.On the same day, a Tyrolean family father died during a sledging trip with his wife and daughter and another couple and their son.The man, 45, was discovered only an hour after steering down a rocky embankment after losing control of his sledge on the Mösl Alp near Wörgl. He died from a traumatic brain injury, according to local authorities.
