Homeless man stabbed at soup kitchen bus

A homeless man is fighting for his life after being knifed as he queued up for a warm meal.Attila S., 20, was stabbed in the stomach when an argument with another person in line for a plate of hot soup at the Caritas’ Canisi Bus free food service in Vienna-Josefstadt got out of control last night (Mon).The attacker, 34, was put in custody. Officials said today the condition of the injured man was critical. He underwent emergency surgery at an undisclosed clinic.Caritas Vienna head Michael Landau recently announced he expected more homeless people than ever before to be seeking help this winter. The humanitarian aid expert said explained 2,600 homeless people got in touch with Caritas workers at the organisation’s institutions in the city last year, up by 400 year on year.Vienna has experienced sub-zero temperatures and more snowfall than in most years since the start of weather records in the past few weeks.
