Pie-eyed burglars nod off on sofa

Two burglars fell asleep after gorging on apple pie, police in Lower Austria have revealed.The friends, aged 39 and 46, stole 60 Euros from a family home in Hohenberg on Saturday night. They then left for a nearby pub where they spent the cash on cigarettes and beer.At closing time, the crooks decided to return to the house. They then tucked into an apple strudel which the home owners had made before leaving to go on a weekend vacation. The burglars fell asleep after guzzling booze they found in the kitchen.They were arrested after being found napping on the living room couch by the home owners upon arrival.The men from St. Pölten claimed they initially planned to ask the home owners to call them a taxi after realising that the last train home had already left.
