Tyrolean jailed over train ticket scam

A 20-year-old woman has been sentenced to jail for failing to pay for train tickets worth more than 10,000 Euros.Judges at a court in Innsbruck, Tyrol, heard yesterday (Thurs) how the young woman ordered more than 400 train tickets but failed to pay for any. She managed to trick Federal Railways (ÖBB) for years by giving wrong bank account information before investigators eventually tracked her down last month. The woman – who already served a spell in prison for failing to pay mobile phone bills worth thousands of Euros in 2009 – only started a new job earlier this month. The debt-ridden defendant explained in court that she was compelled to scam the ÖBB to be able to visit her boyfriend in Switzerland regularly. She has been sentenced to 31 months in jail for fraud.
