Teen farmer loses both legs

A teenager had both his legs chopped off in a farming accident yesterday (Sun).Patrick S., 15, was on the back of a tractor driven by his 50-year-old dad Gerhard in a field near Göpfritz in Lower Austria’s Zwettl district when he lost his balance and fell into the operating milling machine being pulled by the tractor.Paramedics said today the teenager’s right leg was cut off above the knee, while his left leg was crushed just beneath the knee. He underwent emergency surgery at Vienna’s AKH hospital.A 68-year-old Styrian woman is, meanwhile, recovering after she slashed open her right lower arm falling onto a chainsaw blade while cutting wood in her garage in Eichberg last week.
