ORF under fire for screening Nazi tank model ad

ORF bosses have banned a commercial praising a tank used by the Nazis as a “living legend”.Red-faced officials at the national broadcaster were pressed to act after hundreds of disgusted viewers called to complain about the TV ad – screened last Monday – offering a do-it-yourself model of the “Tiger” tank. The controversial clip by internationally operating mail order firm Hachette Collections hailed the armoured fighting vehicle – one of the best known tanks used by the Nazis in World War Two – as a “living legend”.Media watchdogs are expected to question ORF decision-makers about why the commercial was broadcast in view of Austria’s strict anti-Nazi propaganda laws.
