Vienna Oktoberfest under new management
The Vienna Oktoberfest which was last year hailed as a resounding success is set to take place again this year – and under new management.
Claudia Wiesner, 43, is taking over the “Wiener Wiesn Fest” at the Prater which attracted 150,000 visitors from both Austria and abroad last year.
The Wiesn is the name for the large area of parkland in Munich where every year the Oktoberfest takes place.
Wiesner’s last position was as the right hand of Ankerbrot manager Peter Ostendorf, where she started in 2004.
Wiener Wiesn is an eleven days long event with music, food, drinks and entertainment, and Wiesner is confident she is the right woman for the job. She said: “I love to organise parties and to work with a committed team. My greatest wish is to provide every visitor with musical entertainment and good food, to make the party an unforgettable event for everyone.”
Christian Feldhofer, 52, business owner in Lower Austria, is at Weisner’s side to manage the commercial side. He says: “The Wiener Wiesn party attracts people from the countryside and the city, citizens and tourists. They are all connected by their love of culture, music, tradition and the beauty of our country. These values are the ones we wish to convey to our guests.”
The “Wiener Wiesn Fest” takes place from 27 September to 7 October at the Kaiserwiese of the Vienna Prater. Details of the party will be revealed at a press conference on the 15th of May.
