Pumpkin pie festival in Linz

A pumpkin festival will take place on September 30 in Linz, the capital of the province of Upper Austria as a variation on the traditional harvest festival celebration.

Starting early in the morning, on Linz’s main square the “pumpkin mayor” will be chosen and then together with assistants dressed in orange pumpkin suits he leads several events including a pumpkin fair.

Visitors can also take part in several competitions, play “pumpkin skittles”, and taste different pumpkin dishes like soups, puddings, pies and even “pumpkin coffee”.

Different pumpkin seed oil varieties which Austrian people call “green gold” and which are used in everything from cooking to fortune telling will also be presented at the pumpkin festival.
