Vienna Philharmonic on board for Baltic Sea cruise

The Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra is taking some of the world’s best classical music artists on a cruise tour this summer.Orchestra head Clemens Hellsberg said he had decided to set up the journey after the first trip two years ago was a massive hit with fans of classical music.Conductors Valery Gergiev and Christian Thielemann, pianist Rudolf Buchbinder and soprano singer Ildikò Raimondi will be on board when the MS6 sets off in Kiel, Germany, on 7 July.The Vienna Philharmonic, which is regarded as one of the best orchestras in the world, will give gala concerts in Saint Petersburg, Helsinki and Kaliningrad, but also give holidaymakers the unique opportunity of watching a rehearsal.Autograph sessions with the artists and various trips including the White Nights at Saint Petersburg will be part of the journey.Tickets, which cost between 2,780 and 8,450 Euros, are on sale now at www.ms6.at
