IV meets Azerbaijani leaders

An Austrian delegation has met with Azerbaijani businessmen and the country’s political elite to discuss opportunities to do with the countries’ economic relationship.Azerbaijani business newspaper Trend reports that a group of entrepreneurs headed by Federation of Austrian Industries (IV) boss Veit Sorger travelled to the Eurasian country’s capital Baku to debate key topics with their counterparts.Trend reports today (Fri) that the meetings are aimed to examine the prospects of business relationships between Austria and Azerbaijan. The newspaper added that the Austrian group hopes to familiarise itself with the Azerbaijani economy and explore investment opportunities.Sorger and his colleagues have met with representatives of the country’s industry and energy ministry, its culture and tourism board and the economic development panel.The Austrian press is meanwhile speculating who may succeed Sorger when his term as president of the IV ends next year.Business dailies claim Kapsch TrafficCom AG chief Georg Kapsch and former People’s Party (ÖVP) Economy Minister Martin both are in with good chances to get the top job.
