Ex-airport clerk faces trial over embezzlement

A former Blue Danube Airport employee will be in court for alleged embezzlement next month, it emerged today (Thurs).The Provincial Court in Linz, Upper Austria, announced that the 52-year-old faces a trial on 4 February. She is suspected of having pocketed more than 585,000 Euros of the airport’s assets since May 2002.The airport is located around 10 kilometres outside the city centre of Linz. The woman was sacked immediately after the suspicions aroused in December 2009.Judges said they planned to call five people to the witness stand, adding that the trial was scheduled to take place over one day.Blue Danube Airport is Austria’s fifth-busiest aerodrome. It registered 692,044 passengers last year.
