Löscher to get management award

Siemens AG boss Peter Löscher will be awarded WU Manager 2010, Vienna’s University of Economics and Business (WU) has announced.The university said about the Austrian today (Weds): “Löscher has managed to combine successful long-term management operations with a high level of social competency.”The Villach-born businessman, who has headed the German IT company for three years, will receive the award in a ceremony on 29 November. It will be the 16th time the Viennese university will honour an entrepreneur as WU Manager 2010.Siemens was recently praised by analysis agency Interbrand for its “green efforts”.The German company, a main sponsor of the most recent Football World Cup, made 49th place in the agency’s Best Global Brands 2010 ranking after coming 47th in the previous year.Interbrand said Siemens’ current brand value was 7.315 million US dollars (5.566 million Euros), the same figure as last year.Coca Cola retained its top spot in the comparative ranking for the 11th consecutive year. IBM came second ahead of Microsoft.
