US Ambassador makes investment appeal

The US Ambassador to Vienna has encouraged Austrian firms to invest in the USA.William C. Eacho said at a Vienna business event hosted by the Austrian Economy Chamber’s (WKO) Foreign Trade Department (AWO) yesterday (Thurs) that the US economy would continue to recover.”(US President Barack) Obama’s long-term reforms will bring the country back on track and ensure sustainable growth,” he said.The United States’ gross domestic product (GDP) is expected to rise by three per cent year on year in 2010.WKO expected the Austrian export rate to the United States to rise again this year after a 22.4 per cent drop in 2009. It stressed that the country was Austria’s fourth-most important export destination after Germany, Italy and Switzerland.Howard Dean, a former head of the US Democratic Party meanwhile said in an interview with Austrian weekly magazine profil that the Austrian province of Styria had all chances of becoming the “electric cars capital in the world”.
