'Manni the Mammoth' draws the crowds at Galtür
A huge mammoth made of ice and snow is the latest attraction for young and old at the Galtür ski resort in Tyrol.
The sculpture dubbed "Manni the Mammoth", which is six metres high and 12 metres long, is located on a sea level of 1,584 metres and surrounded by mountains scaling around 3,000 metres. It is expected to ‘survive’ until the end of the current skiing season despite slowly rising temperatures.
It took Austrian Stefan Juen and Swiss Simon Morgenthaler four days to carve the life-size model of the prehistoric beast.
