Escort girl jailed after duping Canadian out of 230K

A Romanian escort girl has on Friday been sentenced to two years in prison by a Salzburg Regional Court after she was found guilty of tricking a Canadian man out of 230,000 EUR.

The woman, who has a PhD degree in nuclear physics and was living in Austria, was broke when she met the man who hired her to accompany him as an escort during a one week vacation around the Caribbean islands in May 2011. During that trip she told him about her financial problems and out of compassion he transferred 7000 EUR straight away and then later a further 5000 EUR.

He continued to transfer multiple amounts of upto 25,000-40,000 EUR and told the court on Friday that she had promised him she would repay everything. They initially had signed a contract that offered up her apartment worth over half a million EUR as back up for the debt – although the apartment did not actually belong to her.

Some of the purchases she made with the money included a beauty salon, which went bankrupt after 14 months and, with the last chunk of money she received she bought a second hand Audi TT.

In court she admitted her guilt but accused the man of serious assaults. “He wanted me to move to Canada and marry him but I did not,” she said, accusing the man of serious assaults. “I have reported him for attempted murder, sexual abuse and coercion.”
