Bear killer suspect expelled from hunters union
A man accused of killing a brown bear has been excluded from the Carinthian Hunters Association.Officials said today (Fri) they decided to expel the hunter for life due to evidence garnered by special investigators examining the killing of bear Roznik. The animals skinned corpse was found with its head missing in a stream bed in the Logar Valley in the Austrian-Slovenia border region in June 2009.Prosecutors in Klagenfurt now started dealing with the case after police ended their investigations. The suspect may face a trial over the crime.Roznik, who had a tracking device implanted in his body, was one of nine brown bears in the Austrian province of Carinthia. He was said to be unusually active during the day, not shy and not aggressive.
