Waxwork Jolie lands in Vienna

Travellers hardly believed their eyes when they spotted Angelina Jolie at Vienna International Airport (VIA) this morning (Thurs) – but soon realised that the creature was just the a wax work model of the actress. The Hollywood superstar will be one of 65 celebrities portrayed at the Viennese Madame Tussauds Museum which will open next spring.Jolie’s wax work was the second to be flown in from British capital London after a life-sized copy of Austrian pop singer Christina Stürmer arrived after being created by Madame Tussauds artists in August.Other personalities to be portrayed at the museum from 2011 will be late actress Marlene Dietrich, Austrian tennis legend Thomas Muster and Pope Benedict XVI.Reports have it that managers of the museum will have invested around 10 million Euros when it starts doing business next year. The new potential tourism magnet will be located at the capital’s Prater amusement park in Leopoldstadt district which also features the giant Ferris wheel (Riesenrad). Around 660,000 people took a ride on the 65-metre high attraction last year.
