Suicidal speeder stopped

A Lower Austrian trying to kill himself by crashing his car was stopped by police after going at breakneck speed for dozens of kilometres up a busy motorway on Tuesday.Authorities announced today (Fri) the 44-year-old man was tracked down driving his Audi sports car at dense traffic on the A9 Pyhrn motorway after several horrified friends of the man informed police after they received a farewell note via e-mail.A traffic police officer said: “The man was eventually stopped near the Walder tunnel. Several patrol cars tried to stop him for more than 35 kilometres. He was driving at around 200 kilometres per hour all the time.”The policeman said that during questioning the man told them he planned to end his life following “financial and job-related disappointments”.”He wanted to die in (the Styrian ski resort of) Schladming. He said he loved the place a lot,” the official said, adding that the man was admitted to the Sigmund Freud Clinic for Psychiatric Diseases in Graz, Styria.
