Five-star Steirerhof to reopen after 4mn makeover
One of Austrias best hotels is set to open its doors again after undergoing an extensive makeover.Steirerhof manager Werner Unterweger said today (Thurs) the five-star resort located in the Styrian spa of Bad Waltersdorf will restart business at the end of this month.Unterweger explained around four million Euros have been invested in improving the hotels facilities. He said the hotel will feature a bookshop and a ladies-only spa area.The Steirerhof boss stressed mostly firms located in the region had been assigned in the project.The hotel, which features 169 beds, registered around 95,000 overnights in the past few years.It was found to be the best wellness hotel in the province of Styria by several tourist guides and is also well known for its top cuisine.One of the oldest hotels in the neighbouring province of Burgenland will meanwhile reopen in autumn 2012.Bad Tatzmannsdorf tourism officials said the Kurhotel 1 which opened in 1895 was levelled recently to give way for a new 117-bed facility.Overall costs at the spa resort which is just a 30-minute drive from Bad Waltersdorf are seven million Euros.
