Piggy escape foiled as lorry overturns

Styrian fire-fighters chased more than a dozen pigs which escaped a lorry on their way to the slaughterhouse this morning (Thurs).Thomas Meier, a spokesman for the Fehring fire brigade, said dozens of firemen were kept busy for several hours.”Catching them was difficult since they ran into all directions as the truck they were in overturned after it collided with another lorry,” he said.Thirteen pigs made a getaway while only five remained in the truck’s trailer.Meier added the pigs were “obviously in an extraordinary stress situation” after the incident. Both drivers were unharmed in the collision, and the animal transport continued its journey to the abattoir midday.
