Tyrolean debtor advisers report rising client numbers
The number of people seeking debt counselling increased in Tyrol last year, it has been announced.Schuldenberatung Tirol (Tyrolean Debts Counselling) chief Thomas Pachl said yesterday (Weds): “An overall of 2,326 people asked us for advice last year, while 1,949 Tyrolean residents did so in 2008.”Pachl pointed out that the number of young clients has increased too. After around eight per cent of the people contacting the institution in 2008 were younger than 25, their share jumped to 11 per cent last year.Pachl also said the body managed to sustainably help in 588 cases.Debtors amass an average of 80,000 Euros, he explained, adding that most of them are between 36 and 45 years old and live in the provincial capital Innsbruck or in the citys suburbs.The Federal Creditors Protection Association of 1870 (KSV 1870) announced earlier this year that the number of business bankruptcies in Austria had dropped by 3.6 per cent year on year to 1,639 during the first quarter of this year. It also said that the number of private bankruptcies jumped by 6.4 per cent to 2,586 in the same period.KSV 1870 expects a year on year increase of firms going bust this year.
