Austria Vienna serve up new deal for coach Daxbacher

Austria Vienna bosses have extended coach Karl Daxbacher’s contract, it has been announced today (Fri).The former LASK Linz manager’s contract would have expired at the end of this season.Officials at the club, which is currently third in the Austrian football Bundesliga, said they had already agreed with Daxbacher to extend the cooperation ahead of the team’s 1-0 victory against SV Ried last Saturday.The new deal runs until summer 2011 and will automatically prolong itself if Austria Vienna manages to qualify for international competition next season.Daxbacher had been confronted with increasing pressure ahead of last weekend’s match since his team failed to win in four matches. Especially the team’s 0-2 defeat against city rivals Rapid Vienna was a bitter pill for their fans.Austria Vienna play against Magna Wiener Neustadt tomorrow while leaders Red Bull Salzburg face Mattersburg. Rapid Vienna travel to Klagenfurt to clash with bottom lights Austria Kärnten, and Kapfenberg host Sturm Graz.
