Sunday wine and champagne tasting in Salzburg

Located on the top of the Mönchsberg Mountain in Salzburg, the city’s M32 bar and restaurant will be offering two Sundays of wine and champagne tasting during March. Blaufränkisch and Duval-Leroy champagne are the order of the day at the top restaurant, which can be enjoyed during an afternoon tasting or paired with a six course evening meal.

The programme begins on 11 March with a tasting of Blaufränkisch wines from Eisenberg to Spitzerberg. From prestigious wine growers and famous producers to more unusual full bodied Blaufränkisch wines, guests can gain a new understanding of the popular red grape and an entirely new perspective on classic Austrian wine. Wine-grower, expert and Blaufränkisch-ambassador Dorli Muhr, will be there to guide all involved through the extensive tasting menu.

The following weekend in March sees things get a little bit more sparkly as guests enjoy a menu of champagnes from Duval Leroy. Managing director Wilhelm Lahr will take it upon himself to introduce the Leroy world of champagnes to those taking part in the tasting and dinner.

Tasting begins at 3pm on both Sundays with the dinner starting at 7pm. Each course on both the Blaufränkisch and Duval-Leroy menu is accompanied by a different wine or champagne and features such culinary treats as pork belly, venison and champagne and passion fruit mousse.

Wine and champagne tasting costs 20 Euros and 26 Euros respectively with the Blaufränkisch dinner priced at 87 Euros per person and the Champagne dinner costing 123 Euros.
