Horse on the run in Salzburg

Salzburg’s inner-city seemed to resemble something a bit closer to the wild West recently after a horse scared by a swarm of insects that appeared suddenly, managed to break free from its coach and galloped off through the cobbled streets.

The horse managed to run over 6 km before it was finally caught by police officers who put themselves at risk to grab the animal.

During the horse’s wild rampage through the city it smashed into a car that then swerved into a water hydrant leaving the female driver with slight injuries.

And the owner of the horse and carriage was also injured when he tried to restrain the animal before it escaped.

Despite its collision with a car the horse was only slightly injured on the hoof.
