Liquid metal spill injures worker

A young crane operator was seriously injured in a work accident yesterday (Thurs).

The 25-year-old man sustained severe injuries to his face when liquid metal spilled as colleagues tried to pour the substance from one container into another at a construction site near Lilienfeld, Lower Austria.

The liquid metal had a temperature of 1,500 degrees centigrade when the incident occurred, according to local officials. The harmed worker is recovering in hospital. His life is not endangered, according to radio news reports from this morning.
