Vet ‘put down kittens’

An Upper Austrian vet is accused of euthanising dozens of kittens.

Animal rights organisation Vier Pfoten announced today (Fri) it had reported the woman to the police. The group claimed it had evidence that the medic put young cats down on a regular basis.

Vier Pfoten argued that her actions breached federal laws prohibiting the “killing of animals without a serious reason.” The group claimed the vet’s actions were civil crimes as she could be prosecuted for intentional manslaughter.

The under-fire vet – whose identity and place of residence and office have been withheld by officials – refused to comment.
