Drunkard fined after ‘test drive’ claim

A boozed-up man with no licence told police he was “just doing a test drive.”The 39-year-old was stopped after overtaking an unmarked police patrol at 170 kilometres per hour (kph) in a 110 kph limit zone on the A12 Inn Valley motorway near Kundl, Tyrol, yesterday evening (Thurs).The speeder – who was found to be more than twice over the federal drink-driving limit – told stunned officers he was only testing the vehicle of a friend after they found out he had no driving licence.The offender had to pay an undisclosed on-the-spot fine. Both the man and the owner of the car are facing criminal charges.
