Indian deported after strolling along motorway

A 44-year-old Indian was detained and sent back to Italy after being caught trying to enter Austria on foot.The man was spotted strolling along the A13 Brenner motorway near Gries am Brenner in Tyrol by traffic policemen on Tuesday, local authorities said today (Thurs). He was deported to neighbouring Italy from where he presumably entered Austria after failing to provide valid travel or visa documents.Around 11,000 people from all over the world asked for political asylum in Austria last year, down from 15,800 in 2009. Austrian authorities have granted asylum to around one of five applicants in the past years.
