Farmer gets 155 kph tractor speeding fine

A Lower Austrian farmer has vowed not to pay a fine of 60 Euros after allegedly breaking the speed limit – on his tractor.Andreas K. from Schönberg am Kamp told newspapers today (Tues) he received a postal notification saying a vehicle registered under the licence plate of his tractor was caught driving 155 kilometres per hour (kph) on the A1 western motorway.The 42-year-old farmer said: “My old Steyr tractor does 25 kph on good days. I never drove on any motorway with it. I certainly won’t pay the fine.”The federal interior ministry recently announced that 4.16 million speeding offences were registered last year, up by just 0.6 per cent year on year.
