Woman jailed for chainsaw rampage in neighbour’s garden

An Upper Austrian woman has been sentenced to six years in prison for cutting down trees in her neighbour’s garden. The 28-year-old was in court in Ried im Innkreis yesterday (Thurs) for axing several spruces in her next-door neighbour’s back garden with a chainsaw last year. The actions were the final chapter in a bitter feud between the tenants. The defendant was also sentenced to pay 12,000 Euros in compensation to the man. Her mother was arrested on the spot in court after claiming in the witness stand that she cut down the trees herself. A witness however ensured judges that it was the young blond woman who carried out the offence and not her brunette mum. The 65-year-old woman now faces a trial for making a false testimony.
