Elderly driver crashes into supermarket

A shop manager had a narrow escape as an elderly driver crashed though the store’s glass front this morning (Fri).The 76-year-old woman from Wels had tried to park her car outside the Billa shop in Bad Ischl in Upper Austria’s Gmunden district, but smashed through the front door. The pensioner is understood to have mixed up the gas and brake pedals.”I was sitting at the cash desk when it happened. I would have probably been wiped out had the car not come to a standstill where it eventually stopped but around 20 centimetres further on,” the shocked but unharmed female clerk, 43, told a local radio station.The supermarket closed for the day after the incident in which no one was injured.
