New group tackles toilet rubbish-dumping

A initiative aims to raise awareness of the high costs caused by flushing rubbish down the toilet.The new Styrian group Klobal announced today (Fri) it wanted to lower costs created by garbage dumped in loos across Austria by 21 million Euros over the next 10 years.Klobal, which was set up by Styria’s effluent disposal authorities, said it planned to launch a string of awareness campaigns to warn citizens of flushing household rubbish down the toilet.The group said millions of Euros of extra costs were caused by burst pipes and blocked sewage canals every year as people get rid of everything from lighters, cat litter and packaging material to dead pets by flushing them down the toilet.
