Tomcat survives bow and arrow attack

A Styrian faces animal cruelty charges after shooting a tomcat in the neck using a bow and arrow.Two-year-old pet Mucki was seriously injured but survived yesterday’s (Tues) assault, according to police in St. Georgen an der Stiefing in Styria’s Leibnitz district. The 33-year-old offender saw red when he spotted the animal, which belongs to a next-door neighbour, on his lawn. He told officers he had acted “out of hatred”.A local vet said today that the tomcat’s neck was pierced by the arrow, but added the animal will make a full recovery. This incident comes on the heels of news that a young woman from Salzburg lost thousands of Euros after falling for Cameroonian fraudsters offering a rare British Shorthair cat for free. The 19-year-old however transferred more than 22,000 Euros to the conmen who claimed she must come up with travel insurance cover for the kitten – before informing the naive woman that a further 300 Euros were needed to cover expenses and obtain a “European pet visa”.The Thalgau resident eventually informed police about the scam. Officials said investigations were ongoing.
