A 74-year-old father of 10 drowned in a creek after he slipped and fell down an embankment cutting a hedge yesterday (Thurs).The pensioner was found by his wife who started looking for him when he failed to come in for lunch.The man was already dead when the horrified woman spotted him lying in a stream flowing alongside their garden.Police in Eitweg, Carinthia, assume the elderly man lost his balance on the narrow cliff encircling the garden, fell into the water, passed out and drowned.Meanwhile, an elderly Upper Austrian died after breaking his neck when fell off a ladder picking apples on Wednesday.Officials in Pettenbach said yesterday the 83-year-old man’s body was found lying next to the collapsed ladder – which was set up on an sloping pasture – by his son.
