Building site explosion shocks tenants

Residents in a densely populated housing area in Vienna had a lucky escape after four gas bottles exploded on a neighbouring construction site yesterday around noon (Weds).Police in Favoriten district said today experts had started investigating the incident which occurred at a building site in-between the two apartment blocks.Officials said a massive fire kicked off when the welding gas bottles detonated as builders carried out welding work at the multi-storey construction complex.Chief fire-fighter Wilfried Pausa said neither staffers nor residents in nearby flats were injured despite strong winds blowing the blaze over to the adjacent buildings.A massive dust cloud triggered by the fire was visible from almost every part of the city.
